Having grown up in the late 80s and early 90s, my favorite books to check out of the school library were the Choose Your Own Adventure books.  The power of making choices to see if you could get to a favorable outcome made reading fun.  And then, of course, there was searching all over the book to see all the harrowing endings.  Engagement was off the charts.

In having to compete with video games, social media, modern TV and movies, teachers need to rely upon the engagement of compelling stories and the power of choice.  Choose Your Own History games turn the dilemmas of history into opportunites to make decisions and earn History, Culture & Civilization Points based upon historical and ahistorical options.

I've been designing games to use in the classroom for over a decade: from the complex to the simple.  These CYOH games offer mechanics that are quick and easy for teachers to implement for on pace instruction or to let students explore asynchronously.  They keep track of their choices and points on paper or digitally.  And for me, watching students engage with the story of history and debate over the options makes teaching and facilitating that much more fun.

These games are available at TPT.  I have tried to price them aggressively in hopes that others will be willing to try something very different without risking their own pockets or those of their districts.  I hope you find them to be a truly satisfying experience for you and your students.  I had fun designing them and look forward to making more.  Stay Tuned.  :-)
